fairy tale frog title

Storynory publishes an audio story every week. You will find loads of classic fairy tales and poems in Storynory's archives. Each one is introduced with a little piece of gossip from the pond where Prince Bertie the Frog lives with his friends. Every now and then we publish a special story about Bertie - you can find the Bertie Stories here. This is a brief introduction to the characters.

Prince Bertie the Frog

Bertie used to be a handsome prince and was engaged to be married to the lovely Princess Beatrice. Unfortunately, Beatrices's wicked stempmother turned him into a frog, and so the wedding was called off (story). Now Bertie lives on a pond at the bottom of the palace gardens. If enough children listen to his stories, one day he will turn back into a handsome prince.

Tim the Tadpole Tim is an extremely curious young tadpole. He is always asking Bertie lots and lots of questions. Some of the other pondlife think he's rather silly, but secretly they are rather glad when Tim encourages Bertie to tell one of his stories. Tim has his own series of educational lessons.
Colin the Grumpy Carp Colin is a terribly grumpy carp. He's always carping on about something. He thinks that Tim is annoying because he asks too many questions, and he goes around the pond spreading ugly rumours about Bertie. He tells the other creatures that Bertie isn't a prince at all, but is just making up fibs about his Royal past.
Sadie the Swan loves to hear romantic stories, and is especially fascinated about princes, princesses and anything to do with Royalty. She keeps the boys in order when they start to fight.
The lovely princess Beatrice The Lovely Princess Beatrice was engaged to be married to Bertie. Bertie feels rather soppy about her, and is particularly sad when he remembers how they used to walk hand in hand by the pond. Beatrice is so kind to small children and animals that everyone just can't help loving her.
